The Footer™ - Curved Edition [Large]

I finally grew tired of the difficulties in trimming bottles and other tall items with narrow necks and bought the medium and large footer trimming devices. Although simple in design, they have changed my life. Instead of 20 min or more trimming and retrimming pieces that wobble and get displaced, I am able to do a fantastic job in less than 5 min per piece. I was loathe to invest the money in these but I didn’t want to keep throwing chucks and fussing around endlessly. Only regret is that I waited so long!

The Footer™ - Curved Edition [Large]

I love this product! I purchased the open chuck because I make a lot of hanging planters and it took forever to trim the tops. The chuck centers for me and all I have to do is level the tops and trim away. I haven’t used it for vases or skinny necks yet but I’m sure it’ll work just as easily. Great product!

Of course this is basically the same as a (free) well-thrown, centered and dry chuck, but with the advantage of not needing to be thrown, centered or dried. You are at the mercy of the tolerance of the bat pin placement, but even in the large studio space I share, it’s been close enough to centered to be useful. I do worry that with time the plastic bat pin holes will loosen but so far so good.
