If you are a high school Ceramics Teacher this tool is exactly what you need for your art room. Setting up the alignment plate is easy and trimming on the chucks is intuitive. I installed the alignment plate on one of our wheels to set up a permanent "trimming station" and it's been a big hit with my high school students. This tool is so user friendly that many of my students can sit down and get started with very little instruction. If you are a home Potter or an Artist working in a community studio this tool would also be great for you. I love this product! I purchased the open chuck because I make a lot of hanging planters and it took forever to trim the tops. The chuck centers for me and all I have to do is level the tops and trim away. I haven’t used it for vases or skinny necks yet but I’m sure it’ll work just as easily. Great product!
I'm a full time potter....wheel and all. I bought the large size and trimmed a load of closed form bottles. This was a pleasure. No more clay chucks, or giffen grip. That's being given to a clay pal. The " footer" is where it's at!
As a fairly new potter, the online advertising got me. It looked so easy; it looked so "slick" it can't be true. I took the chance, and OMG, IT IS THAT EASY AND THAT SLICK! IT WORKS AMAZINGLY WELL!
Centering and trimming has been one of the time-consuming parts of pottery that I have struggled with. This product showed up well packaged, well made, and works as good or better than promised.

PS The magnets are awesome. I stuck the pieces to the side of the refrigerator in the garage, and they take up no extra space!
This chuck system from Wallace Pottery is fantastic! A huge time saver when trimming necked vases/bottles. Easy setup / use straight from the box. The base magnet system makes chuck swaps a breeze. I highly recommend this trimming system.
